Description

I’ve used the portable version of mkvCleaver 0.6.0.3 for a long time and hasn’t given me trouble. Today, it suddenly refused to extract subtitles, giving me an error whenever I try:

Errors were encountered while extracting tracks.
See the log file for details.

The log gives me one of two types of errors:

Extraction started on 03/28/2017 at 01:47:09
videofile1.mkv :
Extracting Items – subtitles (error);
Codec is not V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC. Not converting to AVI
Error: Nothing to do.
Extraction failed
Extraction finished on 03/28/2017 at 01:47:10

OR

Extraction started on 03/28/2017 at 01:49:51
videofile2.mkv :
Extracting Items – subtitles subtitles (error);
Codec is not V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC. Not converting to AVI
Error: (mkvextract) The file ‘D:Videosvideofile2–no-ogg 3:D:Videosvideofile2_Track03.idx’ could not be opened for reading: open file error.
Extraction failed
Extraction finished on 03/28/2017 at 01:49:51

As soon as I got this error, I upgraded to portable 0.6.0.8, and then to installer 0.6.0.8. Both are giving me the same errors. I can seemingly extract subtitles fine with MKVExtractGUI2.

    I’m having exactly the same problem. EXACTLY!
    I only use this program to extract SRT files.
    It’s been a month since I can’t do it anymore.
    It happens with ALL the MKVs I’ve tried.

      This has been confirmed to be an issue when using MkvToolsNix 10. Please downgrade to version 9 or older for now.

    I’ll use the GUI and hope that a new MKV Tool Nix version solves the problem.
    Thanks a lot!

      You need an older version of MkvToolNix, not newer. Version 9 or older.
