Description I initially reported this as a drag and drop problem bug $582 and you rejected it, citing it as a duplicate of Bug 543. I looked at Bug 543. User Se7en reported “Now with 0701 32bit everything worked fine again (even the drag’n’drop)” However, that did not solve the problem for me. Once again here are my specs: I am using mkvtoolnix-64-bit-21.0.0-setup.exe installed to default C:\Program Files\MKVToolNix folder What follows are all the tests I have conducted to try and resolve this problem. Version 702 64 bit installer – Drag and drop doesn’t work; Files extract correctly only if I load them from “Open MKV files to process” menu. After successfully extracting by using the “Open MKV files …” menu, I try drag and drop again with the same file and it still doesn’t work. Version 702 64bit standalone – Drag and drop doesn’t work; Files extract correctly only if I load them from “Open MKV files to process” menu. After successfully extracting by using the “Open MKV files …” menu, I try drag and drop again with the same file and it still doesn’t work. Version 702 32bit standalone – Drag and drop doesn’t work; Files extract correctly only if I load them from “Open MKV files to process” menu. After successfully extracting by using the “Open MKV files …” menu, I try drag and drop again with the same file and it still doesn’t work. Version 702 32bit installer – Drag and drop doesn’t work; Files extract correctly only if I load them from “Open MKV files to process” menu. After successfully extracting by using the “Open MKV files …” menu, I try drag and drop again with the same file and it still doesn’t work. If I go to settings and Log Settings before trying drag and drop, the log simply shows “No results to display for the current filter.” If I log the successful extraction done by using the “Open MKV files …” menu, the log simply concurs that the extraction was successful and tells nothing about the previously unsuccessful attempt to drag and drop. So in these cases where drag and drop doesn’t work, the log file is not useful. It provides no info as to why drag and drop is unsuccessful. I uninstalled my versions using Revo Pro to remove any %AppDatas% and leftover reg entries. Version 701 32bit standalone does not work at all. Drag and drop doesn’t work and if I attempt to add files with the “Open MKV files to process” menu, it generates an error after I’ve selected the files to be extracted and click “Extract Tracks!” Therefore no extraction works at all with Version 701 32bit standalone. Version 701 64bit standalone doesn’t work at all – It gives the same errors as Version 701 32bit standalone above. Version 701 32 bit installer standalone doesn’t work at all – It gives error: Version 701 64bit installer doesn’t work at all – It gives error: I can’t get a log from Tools > View Log on those attempts. After clicking OK to close out the Error dialog box, it immediately opens a second dialog asking me if I want to save the session, and preventing me from accessing Tools > View Log. Whether I click Yes or No it just closes the program. When I re-open the program the info has been cleared from Tools > View Log. If I go to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\MKVCleaver the custom.ini file shows: [Files] Conclusion for Version 701 is that no iteration of that version worked for me. Version 700 64bit standalone – Drag and drop doesn’t work; Files extract correctly only if I load them from “Open MKV files to process” menu. After successfully extracting by using the “Open MKV files …” menu, I try drag and drop again with the same file and it still doesn’t work Version 700 32bit standalone – Drag and drop doesn’t work; Files extract correctly only if I load them from “Open MKV files to process” menu. After successfully extracting by using the “Open MKV files …” menu, I try drag and drop again with the same file and it still doesn’t work Version 700 64bit installer – Drag and drop doesn’t work; First attempt to load files via “Open MKV files to process” menu resulted in a hung program. I was only able to kill it via Task Manager. Post crash program Tools > View Log shows “2018-03-04 03:37:35.320: Session Crashed” Version 700 32bit installer – Drag and drop doesn’t work; Files extract correctly only if I load them from “Open MKV files to process” menu. After succesfully extracting by using the “Open MKV files …” menu, I try drag and drop again with the same file and it still doesn’t work. Version 608 64bit standalone – Drag and drop doesn’t work; if I attempt to add files with the “Open MKV files to process” menu, it generates an error after clicking “Extract Tracks!” Version 608 32bit standalone – exact same not working behavior as Version 608 64bit standalone, with exact same error messages. Version 608 64bit installer – Drag and drop doesn’t work; if I attempt to add files with the “Open MKV files to process” menu, it generates an error after clicking “Extract Tracks!” Version 608 32bit installer – doesn’t work; exact same behavior as Version 608 64bit installer above At this point I stopped testing. As you can see, I tried 16 different iterations, 32 or 64 bit, standalone or installer, across four versions (608, 700, 701 & 702) conclusion: Drag and drop worked on none of them. Testing this far with DL’s installs, uninstalls, restarts and recording data has taken a couple of hours. So unless you can suggest a working setup I’ll just conclude that current versions only work if you use the “Open MKV files to process menu” Drag and drop does not work |

Hi,
The reason I closed your other bug report is because I cannot reproduce this issue.
I have a laptop and a PC with the same Windows 10 version and I can drag and drop fine. I tested D&D on a Windows 10 PE, Windows 8.1 PE and Windows 8.1 in my VMWare player.
I can always drag and drop and it always works. I cannot resolve an issue which I cannot recreate for myself.
This leads me to believe that there is some other software at play that causes MKVCleaver not to accept D&D.
Now, unless you can provide me with more information on how to recreate this issue I will not be able to resolve it.
I always suggest trying MKVCleaver on another machine. Home, work, friend or a library PC will do.
SalFrank – what resolution are you running? I had an issue with drag and drop not working when using a 4k display. Changing the compatibility settings helped sort out the issue
Unable to reproduce the bug on any Windows version. Possible causes could be 4K displays. If reporting this bug again, please include that information. Test on a 1080p display before reporting.
